Alaska Pastor Resolution on Abolishing Abortion
Alaska pastors have not failed to be pro-life. We have pro-life statements. We have pro-life Sanctity of Life sermons. We have pro-life articles, videos, and conferences. But we have failed to be a unified prophetic voice exposing evil and demanding of our magistrates the total and immediate abolition of human abortion, in Jesus’ name, and to lead by example with our actions. Compromise is the language of worldly politicians, not of the bride of Christ. When it comes to child sacrifice, our message to Alaskans must be as unequivocal and steadfast as Scripture itself.

To the attention of all Alaska pastors and fellow Christians, we submit this resolution in order to give swift attention and favorable action regarding the 2024 Life at Conception Act and any other legislation that ends abortion in the state of Alaska:
(1) WHEREAS, from the moment of fertilization/conception, all humans are created in God’s image and as God’s image-bearers, all humans display His goodness and possess the same objective worth from God, not varying on the basis of incidental characteristics, deformities, age, size, means of conception, mental or physical development, gender, aptitudes, or potential contribution to society. (Gen. 1:27, 4:1, 21:2; Isa. 7:14; Col. 1:16; Rom. 11:36; Ezek. 18:4), and
(2) WHEREAS, to murder any preborn image-bearer is a sin, violating both the natural law of retributive justice, as set forth in the Noahic covenant, as well as the sixth commandment forbidding murder, and as such, is ultimately an assault on God’s image, seeking to usurp God’s sovereignty as Creator (Gen. 9:5-6; Ex. 20:13; Prov. 6:17, Matt. 18:6), and
(3) WHEREAS, God establishes all governing authorities as His avenging servants to carry out His wrath on the evildoer; and commands these authorities to judge justly, neither showing partiality to the wicked, nor using unequal standards, which are abominations (Psa. 82; Rom. 13:4, Prov. 20:10, Prov. 20:23), and
(4) WHEREAS, over the past 48 years there have been over 60 million recorded abortions nationwide, and in Alaska about 1,500 preborn humans have been murdered annually via abortion, and
(5) WHEREAS, traditional pro-life laws, though well-intended, have not established equal protection and justice for the preborn, but on the contrary, have established regulatory guidelines for when, where, why, and how to obtain legal abortion of innocent preborn children, thereby legally sanctioning murder, and
(6) WHEREAS, God’s Word treats preborn persons equally to born persons, including requiring equal justice for harm done to either, and using the same terms to define children whether inside or outside the womb (Ex. 21:22-25; Judg. 13:2-7; 16:17; Psa. 22:9-10; 71:6; Isa. 49:1, Jer. 20:14-18; Ruth 1:11; Gen. 25:21-26; Rom. 9:10-13; Job 3:3; Gen. 21:7; Luke 1:41, 44; 2:12, 16; 18:15; Luke 1:15, 24, 36; Acts 7:19; 1 Pet. 2:2; Cor. 4:14), and now, be it therefore
(7) RESOLVED, that Pastors of Alaska do state unequivocally that abortion is murder, and we reject any position or practice that equivocates, euphemizes, or fails to extend the God-demanded legal and equal protection of our preborn neighbors from fertilization/ conception (Psa. 94:6; Isa. 10:1-2; Prov. 24:11; Psa. 82:1-4), and be it further
(8) RESOLVED, that we appeal to our elected state representatives, senators, governor, and the attorney general to hear our voice as we cry out on behalf of our human preborn neighbors that have no opportunity to stand before you, and appeal to your conscience to enact this righteous and just law; and be it further
(9) RESOLVED, that we will not embrace an incremental approach to ending abortion since the incremental approach legalizes murder within arbitrary standards thus showing unjust partiality (Gen. 3:1; John 8:44; 2 Cor. 11:3; Rom. 2:14-15; Prov. 20:10, Prov. 20:23), and be it further
(10) RESOLVED, that we affirm that the murder of babies prior to birth via abortion is a crime against humanity that must be punished equally under the law, and that equal protection requires the same legal prohibitions and available sanctions against homicide that exist to protect persons after birth to likewise protect persons before birth, thereby serving to deter all persons from willingly aiding with or procuring or performing abortion, and be it further
(11) RESOLVED, that such equal protection would require a case-by-case determination, and would not alter any existing presumption, defense, justification, immunity, or clemency, including that mothers would not be subject to criminal liability if under criminal duress, mistake of fact, or for an accidental or natural death, or for an act prior to the effective date of the law, and be it further
(12) RESOLVED, that we deny that prenatal murder via abortion is ever necessary to save the life of the mother, tragedies such as miscarriage and natural death of a zygote in ectopic pregnancies may require medical triage with doctors never ceasing to treat both mother and baby as human beings, and upholding the Hippocratic Oath by exhausting all possible options to save as many human lives as they can, and be it further
(13) RESOLVED, that any principal participant who willfully obtains an abortion for their unborn child, or any party who willfully aids, procures, or performs the abortion, be not viewed primarily as a victim of the abortion industry but as a perpetrator of prenatal murder, and be it finally
(14) RESOLVED, that as Alaska Pastors we will engage, with God’s help, in establishing equal justice and protection for the preborn according to the authority of God’s Word as well as local and federal law and call upon pastors and church leaders to use their God-given gifts of preaching, teaching, and leading with one unified, principled, prophetic voice to criminalize prenatal murder and to abolish abortion.
